Ivo had already attempted to use the Master Emerald for World Domination in Sonic and Knuckles three. His goal here is to resurrect the God of Chaos in the civilization he researched in the Mystic ruins.
Two strangers??
Knuckles had already met Sonic and Tails before in Sonic and Knuckles three! Sonic and Knuckles worked together to recapture the Master Emerald from Ivo's Death Egg. Knuckles fought Metal Sonic and Super Metal Sonic to get the emerald, but according to the Sonic/Tails storyline, Robotnik took the emerald and fled the falling Death egg. In theory, Knuckles fought Metal Sonic and Super Metal Sonic when Ivo recaptured the Master Emerald (From the hidden palace zone, which we later recognize to be part of the temple of the Mystic Ruins). Exhausted from fighting and defeating, Knuckles falls to Eggmans small mobile egg carrier and Ivo escapes. Sonic and Tails, who try to arrive to witness the fleeting Eggman, chase after Eggman and get aboard the Death Egg where they rescue the Master Emerald again which returns to Angel Island. Angel Island begins to float, and Knuckles thanks his new friends, but the echidna and the hedgehog are not very close. That is why, in SA1, eggman manages to trick the Echidna into believing the Sonic stole shards to the Master Emerald.

Okay...my rant is over. The story is well written, but in a game to fact-fiction story, it is fairly inaccurate in phrases and such. It may need some changes, and updates to stay on track, but the idea is not bad. For the sake of Sonadow, it might be better to write from SA2 on, with the first chapter lightly covering important ideas to SA2 in the first chapter. (For example, Knuckles learning to negate the Chaos Emeralds from Tikal in SA1 would be relevant. Along with other things of that sort.)

Author's Response: Yeah, first off, I'm extremely aware it does not follow suite with the other Sonic games (I mean, there would be no Sonadow in it if it were accurate). I chose to alter a few things to make the storyline a little more readable for the people who already know the facts by heart, that and to speed up the story line a bit. (Just like other comic books that have been created into movies. Example: Spiderman. Most of the events and story lines are changed a little to make it more entertaining and, again, to speed things up). I wanted to put a little thought and originality into a story like this and, well, since this is a fanfiction, and not a 'fact-fiction,' not all details have to be true, as long as it still makes sense.
