Despite being a pairing junkie, I always dismissed the pairing of Sonic and Shadow as a "two most popular guys" match... And I thought fics constantly warped them out of character. Then for the heck of it, I started writing a few passages, and at 40 pages maybe it's time to admit I'm hooked. >_>

(it'll take a while before I can post any of that here, because I always start at the end or middle and work my way back to the beginning when I write.  Got a shorter one going that might be done sooner, though.)
