This is kind of weird, but I couldn't stop laughing for 5 mins when I read this line.

"The edges of the Ultimate Lifeform’s mouth twitched just slightly and for a while they just gazed at each other silently, the dim glowing of the coal basin making this the most romantic torture chamber possible."

Looks like Sonic finally realized the truth. Now if only Shadow would. When I first read this I was questioning whether this had much more that just Sonic/Shadow being frineds as opposed to love. But it seems to have finally opened up (Can't think of a better way to put it at the moment.) But I liked this from the begininning anyway.
